SAVING SAND FOR A BETTER ENVIRONMENT
Sand mining is a hot issue in the Gambia. Aircrete is a solution to reduce the demand for sand. Creating aircrete only uses 25% of the sand that is used traditionally to make a block of concrete. An aircrete production facility could provide a lot of jobs and will reduce the usage of sand in the production of concrete.
What is Aircrete?
Aircrete is mixture of sand, cement water & soap. Why soap? Because it creates bubbles of air into the mixture. This creates an insulating building material.

Aircrete blocks are perfect building blocks. User friendly because it is light to carry and will save a lot of backs and strong to use for building.
Aircrete reduces the usage of sand with 75%. This means less sand mining, and less destruction to the environment.
This is not only a great solution for a country that is in a serious sand-crisis. It also is a way to create a new business in which a lot of young people could find jobs. This could be a direct solution reduce illegal migration.

Uncontrolled sand mining is a huge problem in The Gambia. In the village Gunjur mining companies are now digging away the last dune that protects the village from the ocean.
Besides the fact that these mining activities are a serious danger to the village, they also wiped away a lot of natural forest land.
